The Kaaval Uthavi app is designed to provide immediate assistance to the general public in times of distress or emergency. It allows users to trigger and send an 'Emergency' alert to the control room. By pressing the emergency red button, the user's live location is shared with the control room and their details are identified. The nearest police station or police vehicle is then alerted to provide the required assistance. Additionally, an SMS alert is sent to registered friends and family members about the emergency.

In cases where data connection is low or poor, the app automatically sends emergency triggers as SMS packets to the control room, ensuring emergency services are aware of the caller's last known location.

The Dial 112/100/101 feature allows users to make a direct voice call with the control room. By dialing from a registered mobile number, the user's location is easily identified, enabling immediate assistance from nearby police stations or vehicles.

The Mobile Compliant feature allows users to register real-time mobile-based complaints with the control room. This can be done by submitting a short video or image and selecting the appropriate complaint type and sub-type.

The location sharing feature allows users to share their live location with family and friends during normal activities such as travel or shopping. This can be done through popular services like WhatsApp and Google Maps location share.

In addition to these features, the app also includes other services such as a police station locator with direction and dialing features, a control room directory with dialing services, an additional helpline directory with dialing service, as well as notification and alert services. These integrated features ensure access to various types of emergency assistance and other services.

The app also provides access to TNP e-services, which include services like police verification, lost document reports, vehicle verification, FIR and CSR status checks. These services can be accessed via the app's portal, allowing users to easily avail themselves of various services provided by the Tamil Nadu Police.
